Bandits Abduct Traditional Ruler and Wife in Kwara

In the early hours of Saturday, armed men stormed the palace of traditional ruler Olayinka in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, abducting him, his wife, and one other person. The attack occurred around 1:40 AM, during which the assailants fired sporadically, causing panic among those present.

Sources indicated that the bandits invaded the palace heavily armed and took the monarch away without resistance. This incident is particularly shocking as it is the third reported case of a traditional ruler being kidnapped in Kwara South within the year, following two similar abductions in 2025.

The recent elevation of the traditional ruler to an official status earlier this year adds to the gravity of the situation, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the region.
