Kwara Monarch and Wife Abducted by Armed Bandits

Oba Salman Aweda, the traditional ruler of Olayinka in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, was abducted along with his wife in the early hours of Saturday, around 1:00 AM. The incident occurred when heavily armed bandits invaded the palace at approximately 1:40 AM, causing panic among residents.

Abdulrashe Yusuf, the chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting the urgent need for reinforced security in the community. He conducted a spot assessment visit to the area and disclosed that a coordinated search and rescue operation involving local security operatives and forest guards has been launched.

Yusuf urged residents to support security agencies and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in addressing insecurity. The incident has reignited fears of a resurgence of banditry in the region, prompting calls for immediate action to restore peace and ensure the safe return of the victims.
