Bandits Abduct Monarch and Wife in Kwara State Attack

On Saturday, around 1:40 AM, bandits attacked the palace of Oba Salman Aweda in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, abducting the monarch, his wife, and one other person. The assailants, heavily armed, shot sporadically to instill fear among residents, leading to widespread panic.

Local sources confirmed that the attack occurred without resistance, and the victims were taken to an unknown destination. Abdulrashe Yusuf, the chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, expressed deep concern over the incident and assured that efforts were underway to secure the victims' release.

He visited the community on Saturday to oversee a joint search and rescue operation involving security operatives and local vigilantes, aimed at ensuring the safe return of the abducted individuals. Yusuf urged residents to remain calm and provide intelligence to assist ongoing security operations, highlighting the need for stronger security measures to prevent further attacks in the area.
