Group Demands Clarity on Capital Project Funding Delays

Legislative Watch, a civic advocacy group, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to explain the delay in the release of funds for capital projects, which were included in the national budget. The group expressed concerns that the continued delay in funding is stalling budget implementation, leaving contractors unpaid and raising issues regarding government revenue management.

Alfr Uch, representing the group, stated that Nigerians deserve to know how government revenues are utilized, especially when capital projects are captured in the 2024 and 2025 budgets. The group warned that failure to compel the president to disclose the status of appropriated capital project funds could lead to nationwide protests.

They highlighted that the uncertainty surrounding funding discourages contractors from proposing new projects for the 2026 budget. Legislative Watch insists on immediate release of outstanding capital project funds to restore public confidence in the budget process and accelerate infrastructure development across the country.
