NGO Distributes Cookstoves to Empower Women in Kaduna

Bridg Gap Hope Africa Initiative, a Kaduna-based non-profit organization, distributed energy-efficient cookstoves to women in vulnerable communities in Kaduna State on March 11, 2026, as part of their initiative to mark International Women's Day. The project aims to reduce charcoal use by 50%, thereby helping to curb tree cutting and slow deforestation.

Gloria Bulu, the Executive Director of Bridg Gap Hope Africa Initiative, stated that the intervention supports women's empowerment and strengthens climate resilience in underserved communities. The initiative promotes community-driven climate adaptation strategies and addresses desertification while enhancing energy-efficient technology.

Bulu emphasized the importance of investing in women to achieve broader social, economic, and environmental benefits. The provision of clean cookstoves is expected to improve health outcomes, reduce indoor air pollution, and lower household energy costs, ultimately benefiting the community and enhancing livelihoods.
