APC Chairman Criticized for Endorsing Yobe Aspirant

The Yobe First Movement Forum has expressed discontent with the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Lawan M. Ibrahim, for publicly endorsing governorship aspirant Baba Mallam Wali.

During a press briefing in Damaturu, Ibrahim described the chairman's actions as a breach of impartiality, particularly after the chairman appeared alongside former governor Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni. The group emphasized that the chairman's unilateral endorsement undermines the integrity of the electoral process and called for him to either resign or recuse himself from party activities immediately.

They referenced the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act of 2026, asserting that no individual is above the rules of internal democracy. The movement believes that the chairman's voluntary resignation would help de-escalate tensions and ensure that the primaries are conducted transparently and fairly, thereby restoring trust among party members.
