APC Candidate Emergence Opposed in Kaiama/Baruten

The Kaiama/Baruten Development Association, represented by Alhaji Yakubu Salihu, Alhaji Aminu Mohamud Umar, and Dr. Hussein Yahaya, has expressed strong opposition to the emergence of the APC candidate for the constituency.

They allege that the announcement of the candidate was made without consulting ward leaders, traditional institutions, youth groups, and women’s associations across Kaiama and Baruten Local Government Areas. The group claims that the process violated the APC's internal democratic principles and bypassed constitutional provisions for open primaries.

They criticize the candidate's legislative performance, stating that he has not sponsored any bills or moved motions in the Kwara House of Assembly since 2019, questioning his capacity to represent the constituency effectively. The association demands that the APC leadership at both the national and state levels nullify the imposed candidacy and conduct free, fair, and transparent primaries.

They assert that the legitimacy of representation must come from the people, not a select few political elites, and vow to resist any imposition.
