Lokoja Group Defends INEC Chairman Against Resignation Calls

A group based in Lokoja has publicly defended Professor Joash Amupitan, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), against recent calls for his resignation. Ahm Ad Fatai, speaking at a press conference, described those advocating for Amupitan's removal as "enemies of democracy." The group asserted that the calls for his resignation do not reflect the democratic will of Nigerians and are driven by selfish political agendas.

They emphasized Amupitan's distinguished character, extensive knowledge of electoral law, and his commitment to neutrality and fairness in the electoral process. The group highlighted that Amupitan's appointment was not based on ethnic interests but rather to serve the Federal Republic of Nigeria and protect the integrity of the electoral process.

They urged Nigerians to focus on merit and support Amupitan's efforts to strengthen democracy, rejecting the calls for his removal as mischief-making.
