CSJ Demands 2026 Budget Upload from Federal Government

The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), led by Ez Onyekper, has expressed grave concern over the Federal Government's failure to upload the 2026 budget to its official website, despite President Bola Tinubu signing the budget into law on April 17, 2026. CSJ issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the Budget Office of the Federation (BOF) to comply, emphasizing that the lack of transparency violates citizens' constitutional rights to information regarding public expenditure.

The CSJ noted that the budget was expected to be uploaded by January 8, 2026, but has not been made available, which they argue is a deliberate attempt to restrict public access to fiscal information. They reminded the BOF of its statutory duty to ensure transparency in financial affairs and demanded immediate action to rectify this situation.

The CSJ also called for the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and the Minister of Finance to hold a traditional budget briefing to improve transparency in public financial management.
