Kwara South Group Rejects Insecurity Claims Ahead of Elections

The Joint Security Watch Kwara South, led by Olaitan Oyin Zubair, has publicly rejected claims of increasing insecurity in Kwara South as the governorship elections approach. The group argues that these claims are intended to undermine the political stability of the region.

They report that while there have been criminal incidents, Kwara South is not uniquely affected, and the area has seen significant improvements in security due to coordinated efforts among local vigilante groups and security agencies. Oyin Zubair highlighted that residents are gradually returning to their farms following intensified surveillance and joint security operations.

The group also stated that Kwara South remains a strong support base for the APC, citing voting records from previous elections. They urged political stakeholders to refrain from spreading unverifiable information that could incite fear and tension in the community, especially in light of recent discussions about the temporary closure of cattle markets linked to criminal activities.
