African Youth Urged to Embrace Leadership and Enterprise

During the virtual graduation ceremony of the first cohort of the 2026 Free Market Fellowship, Mr. Leonard Ogunweide, the executive director of Face of Liberty International, called on young Africans to embrace enterprise and responsible leadership.

He emphasized that addressing developmental challenges should not rely solely on governments and political institutions. The 10-week fellowship attracted participants from various African countries and aimed to equip emerging leaders with knowledge in leadership, civic education, human dignity, personal responsibility, free markets, entrepreneurship, public policy, livelihoods, and effective communication.

Ogunweide stated that Africa's development hinges on citizens transforming ideas, knowledge, skills, and resources into productive value. He asserted that mere potential is insufficient for progress, and that leadership involves taking responsibility for improvement.

He concluded that sustainable prosperity can only be achieved in an environment where individuals are free to establish businesses and enjoy property rights.
