Experts Call for Youth Investment at Lagos Boot Camp

At a leadership training boot camp for teenagers held in Lagos, South West Nigeria, experts urged for increased investment in youth development to secure Nigeria's future. Ammar Jibril, a tech consultant at KPMG, discussed the necessity of early exposure to leadership training, stating that it is crucial for building a generation capable of tackling Nigeria's social, economic, and governance challenges.

He warned that many teenagers lack confidence in public speaking and leadership, which could weaken the country's future human capital. Jibril called for leadership development to be treated as a national priority and advocated for the integration of public speaking and leadership training into school curricula.

Ridwanullah AbdulLateef, another youth leader, stressed the importance of providing young people with a solid foundation early in life. Participants, including 12-year-old Sultan Lawal, expressed that the training improved their ability to balance personal values with societal expectations and enhanced their resilience against negative peer influence.
