African Youth as Key Drivers of Peace in Africa

During the inauguration of the African Youth Peace Corps (AYPC) in Abuja, Dr. Sundai Attah, former Acting Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Defence, stated that African youth are the continent's greatest asset and crucial for its future.

He called for a shift in the perception of youth, urging that they should no longer be viewed as a problem but as key drivers of peace and development. Attah noted that despite numerous challenges, Africa has a significant demographic advantage that can be harnessed for progress.

He encouraged young Africans to become peace ambassadors and bridge builders, capable of fostering unity and defending human dignity. Dr.

Abdulwahe Odewal, the AYPC Coordinator General, outlined the organization's vision, which includes promoting peace clubs in schools, youth leadership academies, and interfaith dialogue platforms. He urged African youth to reject violence and embrace solutions for peace.

The AYPC aims to raise a new generation of peace ambassadors across the continent.
