NUPENG Vows Strike Over Dangote Refinery Dispute

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has vowed to proceed with a planned strike starting Monday due to a dispute with the management of Dangote Refinery. NUPENG is protesting the inclusion of imported Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck drivers who are not part of the union.

The Petroleum Tanker Drivers Branch Union, a part of NUPENG, will halt the distribution of petroleum products during the strike. NUPENG disowned a statement by Enoch Kanawa of the Direct Trucking Company Drivers Association, clarifying that Kanawa's group was not authorized to speak for the Petroleum Tanker Drivers.

The union emphasized its right to unionize workers in the petroleum sector, including those at Dangote Refinery.
