Sheikh Ahmad Gumi Threatens Lawsuit Over Terrorism Defense Claims

Controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has threatened legal action against human rights lawyer Malcolm Emokiniovo Omirhobo for allegedly making defamatory claims capable of inciting religious tension in Nigeria. Gumi demanded that Omirhobo withdraw his statements and issue an apology within 48 hours, warning of a lawsuit for defamation and incitement.

Omirhobo had accused Gumi of justifying the defense of terrorists, citing constitutional and criminal code provisions. Gumi's lawyer argued that Gumi's remarks could support terrorism and pose a threat to national security.
