Peter Obi Declares No Extension Beyond Four-Year Term

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, asserted that he would not serve beyond a four-year term, even if threatened, during an interview set to air on New Central TV. Obi emphasized his commitment to a stable presidency and expressed concerns over the current administration's economic policies, which he criticized for increasing borrowing and the rising cost of living.

He remarked that Nigeria is experiencing a challenging economic period. In the 2023 presidential election, Obi finished third behind Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party.

Despite his electoral defeat, Obi remains a significant opposition figure and a frequent critic of Tinubu's economic reforms.
