Gunmen Abduct Sapele LG Chairman Bright Abek in Delta

Bright Abek, the chairman of Sapele Local Government Area in Delta State, was abducted by gunmen in a midnight attack that occurred on a Friday at approximately 7 PM. The assailants, numbering around 15, arrived in a Range Rover SUV and two other vehicles, firing shots into the air to create panic among hotel guests.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers specifically targeted Abek and whisked him away to an unknown destination. During the attack, a member of a local vigilante group, Simpli Ufuoma, was shot and subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital, with his condition yet to be confirmed at the time of reporting.

The Delta State Police Command, led by CP Bright Edafe, has confirmed the incident and deployed a special anti-kidnap unit to ensure Abek's safe rescue and to track down the assailants. Security operations have cordoned off major entry and exit points in Sapele.
