Gunmen Abduct Kano Local Government Secretary at Night

In a midnight raid on late Friday night, gunmen abducted the secretary of the Kibiya local government area in Kano. The incident occurred around 1:00 AM while the secretary was asleep in his house.

The attack was initiated when the secretary's son, who was sleeping in the outer compound, was forced to knock on his father's door under the pretense of having a stomach ache. Upon opening the door, the secretary was immediately seized by the gunmen, who also attacked the son but later released him.

Security operatives arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Kibiya local government area is generally considered peaceful, although neighboring areas such as Tsanyawa and Shanono, which share borders with Katsina State, have recorded repeated bandit attacks.
