Delta LG Chairman Bright Abek Abducted by Gunmen

On Friday at 7 PM, gunmen abducted Bright Abek, the chairman of Sapele Local Government Area in Delta State, during an attack at a hotel along Owumi Road. The assailants, reportedly numbering around 15, fired gunshots, causing panic among residents and guests.

One member of a local vigilante group, identified as Simpli Ufuoma, was injured during the incident and was rushed to a nearby hospital, though his condition was not confirmed at the time of reporting. In response to the abduction, the Delta State Police Command, led by spokesperson Bright Edaf, confirmed the incident and stated that security operations have been initiated to rescue Abek and apprehend the suspects.

The police have cordoned off major entry and exit points in Sapele as part of their efforts to ensure the chairman's safe return.
