Gunmen Abduct Passengers on Kogi Commercial Bus

On April 13, 2026, at approximately 8:30 PM, gunmen attacked a commercial bus traveling from Lagos to Abuja along the Ayer-Kabba road in Kabba Local Government Area, Kogi State. The Kogi State Police Command, led by Commissioner Naziru Bello Kankarofi, confirmed the incident, stating that armed assailants intercepted the vehicle and abducted the passengers, whose exact number remains undisclosed.

One victim, identified as Adoun Juliu, aged 56, was rescued and taken to a police station for further action. The affected vehicle belonged to Chisco Transport Company and bore the registration number KJA 405 YJ.

The police public relations officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza, reported that efforts to rescue the remaining victims are intensifying, with joint security operations underway to comb the bush for their recovery. So far, seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, and the Anti-Kidnap Unit is actively involved in the investigation.

The police have urged the public to remain calm and provide information to assist in the ongoing operations.
