Gunmen Abduct Residents in Sokoto, Police Launch Rescue

Late on Wednesday, around 11:00 PM, gunmen attacked Chacho Community in Wurno Local Government Area, Sokoto State, abducting residents while they were asleep. The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the incident, indicating that nine individuals, primarily women and elderly men, were taken by the heavily armed assailants.

Two other residents sustained injuries during the attack and are currently receiving medical attention. Ahmad Rufai, the police public relations officer, stated that the command swiftly mobilized tactical teams to the area to track down the perpetrators and rescue the victims.

Eyewitness accounts described a scene of panic as residents fled amid sporadic gunfire. The police assured the community of their commitment to restoring calm and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.

The attack has heightened concerns among residents about the rising spate of banditry in the area, prompting calls for sustained security presence to prevent further incidents.
