Police Launch Manhunt After Attack Kills Two Officers

The Anambra State Police Command, led by Commissioner Ikoy Orutugu, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to track down and arrest the gunmen responsible for the ambush that resulted in the deaths of two police officers. The deadly attack occurred on Sunday night while the convoy of Chief of Staff to Governor Charles Soludo, Ben Nwankwo, was traveling along the Amansea-Ufuma axis at approximately 8:30 PM.

Fortunately, Chief Nwankwo escaped unharmed. Following an emergency security meeting at the state police headquarters in Awka, Commissioner Orutugu described the assault as a direct attack on the authority of the state and vowed to take immediate action against the perpetrators.

He emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, particularly on the Amansea-Ufuma road, which has become a hotspot for criminal activities. The police command reassured residents of their commitment to restoring safety and security across the state.
