Gunmen Kidnap Ondo Traditional Ruler, Police Launch Manhunt

On Saturday, gunmen abducted Adeniyi Adelana, a 60-year-old traditional ruler of Oriya Community in Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State, around 8 PM. The assailants, reportedly six armed men, invaded his residence and forcibly took him into the nearby bush.

The Ondo State Police Command, confirmed by Public Relations Officer DSP Abayomi Jimoh, has commenced a coordinated rescue operation in the forest area following the distress report. During the attack, Adelana's wife sustained a gunshot injury to her right hand and was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

The police have mobilized a combined team of security personnel to the scene for a preliminary assessment and ongoing investigation. State Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu has directed tactical units and intelligence assets to intensify efforts for the swift rescue of the victim and the arrest of the perpetrators, emphasizing the commitment to ensure the victim is safely reunited with his family.
