Gunmen Kidnap Traditional Ruler in Ondo Community

On Saturday, gunmen invaded the Od Oriya community in Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State, abducting 60-year-old traditional ruler Adeniyi Adelana. The attack occurred around 8 PM when approximately six armed men stormed his residence, forcibly taking him away into the nearby bush.

Ondo State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation on Sunday, stating that the police commenced rescue operations immediately after receiving the distress report. During the attack, the victim's wife sustained a gunshot injury to her right hand and was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

The police have launched a coordinated search and rescue operation in the surrounding forest, aiming to track the kidnappers and ensure the safe release of the victim. State Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu has directed tactical units to intensify efforts in the area to apprehend the perpetrators and reunite the victim with his family.
