Gunmen Kill Four in Plateau State Despite Curfew Measures
On Thursday night, gunmen attacked the Sabon Angwa community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of four residents. The attack occurred around 8pm, despite an existing curfew intended to enhance security in the area.
Mr Bulus Jok, a local resident, confirmed that the attackers opened fire indiscriminately, causing panic among the community members. He noted that an early warning alert had been sent to the relevant authorities a day before the incident, highlighting the failure to prevent the attack.
Mr Rwang Tengwong, the Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), condemned the attack and expressed concern over the ongoing violence in the region despite security measures. He urged security agencies to improve surveillance and respond promptly to early warnings to prevent future incidents.
Efforts to contact the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful.
