Gunmen Kill Anglican Priest in Adamawa State Attack

In a tragic incident in Adamawa State, gunmen killed Anglican priest Emmanuel Ezeokw during an overnight attack in the Vicarag community. The attack occurred around 12:48 AM on Tuesday, with the Adamawa State Police Command confirming the incident through spokesperson Suleiman Nguroj.

Upon police response, Ezeokw was found at the scene and later confirmed dead at the hospital. Investigations have been initiated, with the state Criminal Investigation Department directed by Kabir Hassan to conduct a detailed probe.

Archbishop Marku Ibrahim of the Yola Diocese described the killing as a significant loss for the church and called for calm. This incident adds to the growing list of violent occurrences in Adamawa State, particularly in rural areas near the Sambisa Forest, where coordinated attacks have been reported, including a February 2026 incident that resulted in the deaths of at least 25 people.
