Gunmen Ambush Man O’War Officer, Dasola Sanusi, Killed

On April 18, 2026, at approximately 6:30 PM, Dasola Sanusi, a female officer of the Man O’War, was killed during an ambush by gunmen on the Ibadan-Ago Iwoye expressway in Oyo State. The incident occurred as she was returning from duty, shortly after passing the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria.

Gunmen reportedly opened fire indiscriminately on vehicles in the area. Although Sanusi managed to escape the immediate scene despite sustaining gunshot wounds, she later succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

Another officer, Emmanuel, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment. Two female officers were also hospitalized due to trauma from the incident.

Ibrahim Bello, a national spokesperson, confirmed the investigation into the attack, while Olayinka Ayanlad, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, noted that the gunmen were suspected kidnappers. The police mobilized to the scene upon receiving information about the attack.
