Gunmen Kill Traditional Ruler and Police Escorts in Imo

Traditional ruler Paulinu Ekwuem of Assa Community in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State, was shot dead in a midnight ambush by gunmen. The attack, which also resulted in the deaths of police escorts, occurred on Friday night. According to Imo State Police Command spokesperson DSP Henri Okoy, the incident was confirmed, and security operations have been deployed to the area to ensure safety. Ekwuem was reportedly returning to Imo State from an overseas trip when the ambush took place. The police have not disclosed the number of security personnel involved in the incident, nor have they provided information on the number of fatalities. In response to the attack, Imo State Police Commissioner Audu Garba Bosso has ordered the immediate deployment of a tactical team throughout the Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area to maintain calm and safety.
