Gunmen Kill Ebonyi Traditional Ruler in His Bedroom

Ezeogo Josephat Ikegwu, the traditional ruler of Ishinkwo Community in Onicha Local Government Area, was murdered by gunmen in his bedroom on Wednesday night. Governor Franci Nwifuru condemned the act, describing it as a barbaric and senseless attack on a revered traditional institution and a direct assault on peace in Ebonyi State.

The governor expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured the community that the state government would work closely with security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended. The attack occurred without resistance, shocking the local community.

Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, Ikechukwu Ogbofia, also condemned the attack and confirmed that security agencies have been mobilized for a thorough investigation. This incident marks the fifth murder of a traditional ruler in Ebonyi State in recent times, raising significant concerns about the safety of community leaders.
