Gunmen Kill One, Abduct Four in Bauchi Attacks

In a recent attack in Kagadama village, Bauchi State, gunmen killed one individual and abducted four others, marking a troubling trend of insecurity in the region. Maryam Bagel, a former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, raised alarms about the deteriorating security situation in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

The attack occurred when armed men targeted residents, resulting in the death of a pharmacy owner, with the abductors reportedly demanding a ransom of N50 million for the release of the victims. Bagel noted that this incident followed a previous abduction of a resident named Shahibi and highlighted a second attempt to abduct a shop owner, who managed to escape.

The Bauchi State Police Command, represented by SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the attacks and stated that security operations are underway to rescue the abducted individuals and apprehend the assailants. The police have deployed a violent crime reduction unit and an anti-kidnap unit to address the rising incidents of kidnapping in the area.
