Gunmen Kill Pastor, Abduct Worshippers in Ekiti Church Attack

On Tuesday night, gunmen attacked the Christ Apostolic Church located in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area, Ekiti State, around 8:30 PM during a church program. The assailants, armed and in numbers, shot the pastor dead and abducted several worshippers, fleeing into a nearby forest.

The incident has caused panic within the community, with residents expressing heightened fears due to rising insecurity in the area. The Ekiti State Police Command confirmed the incident on Wednesday and has initiated a rescue operation to secure the release of the abducted victims.

Police Public Relations Officer Sunday Abutu stated that a thorough investigation and manhunt for the perpetrators are underway, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Amotekun Corps, Agro Marshal, and local hunters. Abutu urged the community to remain calm and report any suspicious individuals or groups to the police to enhance security measures.
