Gunmen Kill Pastor, Abduct Worshippers in Ekiti Church Attack

On Tuesday, at approximately 10:30 PM, gunmen attacked the Christ Apostolic Church located in Eda Oniyo, Ekiti, during a night vigil. The attack resulted in the fatal shooting of the pastor and the abduction of several church members.

SP Sundai Abutu, the spokesperson for the Ekiti Police Command, disclosed that five armed men invaded the prayer ground. Preliminary investigations indicate that the police have commenced a thorough investigation and coordinated a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators.

The police are collaborating with the Amotekun Corps and local vigilante hunters to comb the bush in search of the victims. Abutu urged the public to remain calm and noted that necessary measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

He also advised religious leaders to comply with state government directives, which require prior notification to security agencies for late-night gatherings. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the security agencies.
