Gunmen Kill Pastor, Abduct Worshippers in Ekiti Attack

On Tuesday night, at approximately 10:30 PM, gunmen attacked a prayer gathering on the outskirts of a community in Ekiti State, resulting in the death of a pastor and the abduction of several congregants. The Ekiti State Police Command confirmed the incident on Wednesday, describing it as a targeted attack.

Police spokesperson Sundai Abutu reported that five armed men stormed the prayer ground, fatally shooting the pastor before abducting members of the congregation. In response, state security agencies launched a coordinated operation involving the police, Nigerian Army, Amotekun Corp, Agro Marshal, and local hunters to track down the attackers.

Abutu urged residents to remain calm and assured that efforts were ongoing to stabilize the situation and prevent further occurrences. He also called for public vigilance and cooperation with security agencies, advising religious leaders to notify authorities before holding late-night gatherings.

Residents were encouraged to report any suspicious individuals or groups to the police.
