Gunmen Kill Eight in Plateau Community Birthday Attack

On Sunday night, gunmen attacked a birthday celebration in Ajang Village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, around 10 PM. Reports indicate that at least eight people were killed, and ten others sustained severe injuries during the assault.

The attack caused panic, leading residents to flee into the darkness. Bishop Iliya, a victim of the attack, was present at the event when the gunmen opened fire without warning.

The Berom Youth Moulder Association confirmed the incident, describing the attackers as armed terrorists. Rwang Tengwong, the National Public Secretary, expressed concern over the renewed violence in the area and called on security agencies to take decisive action against the perpetrators.

The Plateau State Police Command, represented by SP Alfr Alabo, reported a slightly lower casualty figure, confirming five deaths. The police mobilized to the scene after receiving a distress call at 9:22 PM and are currently conducting investigations and patrols in the area.
