Gunmen Kill Five in Plateau Attack, Heightening Tensions

On Sunday night, gunmen attacked residents in Plateau, resulting in the deaths of five individuals. The victims were ambushed while returning home around 9 PM.

Four victims died at the scene, while one succumbed to injuries later in the hospital. Rwang Tengwong, the public secretary of the Berom Youth Moulder, confirmed the incident to newsmen, describing the attack as unfortunate and condemning the violence.

He called on security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and property in the area to prevent further attacks. At the time of the report, Captain Polycarp Oteh, a spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, had not yet commented on the incident.

The attack has heightened tensions in the community, with residents expressing concern over the ongoing security situation.
