Gunmen Kill Traditional Ruler and Four Others in Benue

On Thursday night, gunmen attacked Olegabulu Community in Agatu Local Government Area, Benue State, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including a traditional ruler, his wife, and son. The incident occurred around 8 PM when four assailants arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire at the traditional ruler's residence.

Local sources indicated that the assailants exchanged pleasantries with residents before launching the attack, which lasted nearly 20 minutes. Following the initial assault, the gunmen moved to a neighboring house, killing two more individuals, while one person sustained injuries and fled the scene.

Melvin Ejeh, the chairman of the local government, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview, stating that five people were killed and one injured during the attack. Udem Edet, the state police public relations officer, mentioned that she had not yet received a report on the incident.
