Gunmen Attack Herders in Plateau, Kill Six Cattle

On Wednesday, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Plateau State, reported an attack by gunmen on herders in the region, which resulted in the death of six cattle. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM while herders were peacefully grazing their cattle.

Babayo described the attack as unprovoked, noting that no herders were killed, but the act posed a clear threat to the safety and livelihood of pastoralists in the area. He highlighted that within three weeks, 60 cattle had been lost in similar violent incidents in Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas.

Babayo urged the Plateau State government and security agencies to investigate the attacks and apprehend the perpetrators to ensure justice. He emphasized that MACBAN remains committed to peaceful coexistence.

In response to allegations of youth group involvement in the attacks, local youth leader Rwang Tengwong stated that they were unaware of the incident and promised to investigate further.
