Three Herders Killed in Plateau State Attacks

On Saturday, three herders were killed in Plateau State, Nigeria, in a series of attacks attributed to gunmen. The chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, confirmed the incidents.

The first attack occurred at 4:30 PM when a herder identified as Abba Shehu was allegedly shot dead by gunmen as he returned home from the market. Following this, another victim, Muhammad Hassan, was reported to have been shot dead in the Kopk community, while Musa Adamu was also targeted in the Katako community.

These violent events heightened tensions in the area, prompting residents to flee their homes in panic. Security personnel were deployed to Barkin Ladi town to restore law and order.

The recent days have seen an escalation of insecurity in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and Bassa local government areas, with several deaths and property destruction reported. As of the time of reporting, neither the police nor other security operatives had issued an official statement regarding the incidents.
