Bauchi State Mourns Shehu Jalam's Death in Saudi Arabia

Shehu Jalam, the Permanent Secretary of Special Services in the Bauchi State Government, died in the early hours of May 17, 2026, in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, while participating in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. The news of his death was disclosed in a statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor of Bauchi State.

Gidado described Jalam as a dedicated public servant who committed his life to serving the state until his death. He played a significant role in coordinating previous Hajj operations for the government.

The governor extended condolences to Jalam's family, colleagues, and the wider community, emphasizing the loss felt by all. Gidado prayed for Allah to forgive Jalam's shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdau, while also providing strength to his family during this difficult time.

Funeral prayers for Jalam were scheduled to be held on Sunday during the Zuhr prayer at the Holy Mosque in Makkah.
