Over 6,000 Nigerian Pilgrims Airlifted for Hajj 2023

The airlift of Nigerian pilgrims for the 2023 Hajj exercise has successfully transported over 6,000 individuals across 14 flights since operations commenced on May 3. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) reported a steady increase in the number of pilgrims being airlifted, with flights departing from various states including Kebbi, Kogi, Nasarawa, Ogun, Oyo, and Jigawa.

On May 4, three additional flights transported 1,222 pilgrims, raising the cumulative total to 3,018 across seven flights. By May 5, the total number of pilgrims airlifted reached 4,380, with further updates indicating that three additional flights would operate later that day.

The airlines involved include Flyna, Maxair, and Air Peace. The Saudi authorities have set a deadline for the closure of airports for Hajj pilgrims, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to the airlift schedule as the operation continues to facilitate the spiritual journey for thousands of Nigerian pilgrims.
