Politicians Defect to APC in Kano Ahead of 2027 Elections

During the unveiling of President Bola Tinubu's campaign groups in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections, several prominent politicians defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Notable defectors included Hon Ali Datti Yako, Deputy Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State, former Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area Hon Badaru Umar, and former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly Rt.

Hon Isyaku Ali Danja. Other defectors were former PDP deputy governorship candidate Hon Yusuf Bello Danbatta, former Special Adviser to the President Senator Baraka Sani, and Hon Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya, the NNPP chairman of the “Book Faction.” The mass defection, which also included former NNPP senatorial candidate Senator Abdulmajid Dauda Dandawaki and Hon Kabiru Adamu Kofar Ruwa, is part of ongoing political realignments in Kano.

This influx of experienced politicians is expected to bolster the APC's grassroots structures as the party prepares for the upcoming presidential, governorship, and National Assembly elections.
