Haruna Advocates Coaching Reforms for Nigerian Football

Ibrahim Ahm Haruna, the chairman of the Kaduna State Football Coaches Association, has outlined a reform-driven agenda aimed at tackling the underrepresentation of Nigerian coaches at the international level. He attributes this trend to several structural challenges, including limited access to international coaching certifications, a lack of continuous professional development opportunities, administrative political interference, inadequate funding, and a preference for foreign coaches in elite teams.

Haruna emphasizes the need for administrative focus to transform the Kaduna State Football Coaches Association's structure effectively. He plans to establish a clear review of the constitution, create a central database to register coaches, and strengthen coordination across the 23 local government areas.

Additionally, he highlights the importance of transparency and accountability within the association, proposing regular financial reports and quarterly meetings. Haruna also aims to develop partnerships with corporate organizations and NGOs for sponsorship and technical support, while stressing the necessity of training programs for local coaches to enhance their skills.
