NSC and Edo FA to Support Kadiri Ikhana Football Academy

The Nigerian Sports Commission (NSC) and the Edo State Football Association have committed to adopting the Kadiri Ikhana Football Academy (KIFA), which was officially launched in Auchi on a Saturday. The NSC Director General, Bukola Olopade, represented the commission at the launch, expressing support for the academy's model aimed at developing football in the country.

Olopade praised the initiative led by former Green Eagles player Kadiri Ikhana, who is noted for being the first Nigerian coach to win the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980 and for his role in leading Enyimba Aba to victory in the CAF Champions League. The NSC aims to nurture the academy's achievements and motivate young players, emphasizing the importance of combining academics with football training.

Fred Newton, the chairman of the Edo State Football Association, also expressed confidence in the academy's potential impact on youth development in Edo State.
