Nigeria's Commitment to Climate Action Reinforced by Minister

On a recent occasion in Abuja, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the Minister of Environment, reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to global climate action while pursuing national development priorities. He was represented by Dr. Salihu Aminu Usman, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.

The Minister highlighted various strategic initiatives, including the Climate Change Act, Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC3.0), and the National Adaptation Plan (NAP). The NAP is a significant milestone that outlines a framework for addressing climate risks and integrating adaptation into development planning across sectors such as agriculture, health, and infrastructure.

Lawal stressed the necessity for new partnerships, innovative financing, and technology transfer to close the adaptation gap. He acknowledged the vital role of development partners in strengthening institutions and facilitating access to climate finance.

The Minister encouraged participants to engage actively in identifying solutions and developing adaptation programs that yield measurable impacts, aiming for a resilient future for all Nigerians.
