Businesswoman Accuses Umahi of Harassment and Debt

A businesswoman named Ohiri has accused Ebonyi State Minister Umahi of sexual harassment and intimidation during a business trip to Ebonyi. She alleges that Umahi entered her hotel room dressed inappropriately and made advances towards her, prompting her to flee to a staff member's room.

Ohiri claims she had a business relationship with Umahi dating back to the gubernatorial elections, where she was contracted to produce campaign materials. Despite submitting quotes and requests for payment, she alleges she was neither reimbursed for logistics nor paid for the goods supplied, accumulating a debt of N25.4 million, which has since accrued N304 million in interest.

Following her demands for payment, she claims Umahi made repeated advances towards her, leading to threats and hostility. Ohiri has since confronted the police and presented evidence against Umahi, who denies the allegations and claims they are inconsistent.

Ohiri is currently involved in legal proceedings against Umahi, with human rights activist Omoyele Sowore supporting her case.
