Nigerian Health Workers Suspend 84-Day Strike After Agreement with Government

Health workers, represented by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU), have decided to suspend their 84-day nationwide strike after engaging in talks with the Federal Government. The decision to end the strike came after an emergency meeting of JOHESU's National Executive Council in Abuja.

The union and the government had been in negotiations, leading to the signing of a communiqué outlining the terms of the agreement. The agreement includes the commencement of collective bargaining talks for aggrieved health worker unions and the withdrawal of the "no work, no pay" directive related to the strike.

Following the NEC's directive, JOHESU members across the nation are expected to return to work. The suspension of the strike is indefinite to allow for the full implementation of the terms agreed upon during the negotiations.
