Lagos State Government Applauds JOHESU Strike Suspension

The Lagos State Government, led by Governor Sundai, has applauded the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) for suspending its three-month industrial action, a move that reflects goodwill in the shared responsibility to safeguard public healthcare services in the state. Afolabi Ayantayo, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, acknowledged JOHESU's commitment to constructive dialogue in resolving outstanding issues.

The suspension of the strike was confirmed by Adelaja Gbadamosi, the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of JOHESU, during a telephone interview. This decision followed an intervention by the state House of Assembly, where the Speaker assured that the union's demands would be addressed, leading to a memorandum of understanding.

The Lagos State Commission reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing welfare benefits for health sector employees and emphasized the importance of equitable treatment and improved working conditions. The government expressed appreciation for the public's patience during the strike and reiterated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted access to quality healthcare services.
