Hearing for Abducted Jigawa Teen Scheduled for March 26

The Federal High Court in Jigawa State has scheduled a hearing for March 26, 2026, concerning the case of Walida Abdulhadi, a teenager allegedly abducted and sexually abused. The case has garnered significant public concern.

During a court session, defense counsel Abdulmalik Sani requested additional time to file a counter affidavit, stating the need to gather relevant information. Prosecuting counsel Kabir Adamu indicated readiness to proceed with the case despite the defense's request.

The presiding judge, Justice Hassan Dikko, adjourned the matter to allow the defense time to prepare. The prosecution seeks the court's intervention to compel the Department of State Services (DSS) to hand over suspect Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi for proper investigation.

Adamu argued that the involvement of the DSS compromises the principles of fair hearing. The case continues to spark outrage among residents and human rights advocates concerned about the safety and welfare of the teenager.
