Jigawa Governor Promises Justice for Abducted Teenager

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has committed to ensuring justice in the case of Walida Abdulhadi, a 16-year-old girl allegedly abducted in Hadejia in 2023. The case has drawn significant public outrage, leading to protests by hundreds of residents demanding intervention from traditional authorities and the state government.

During a meeting with Walida's parents and their lawyer at the government house in Dutse, Namadi disclosed that Walida is currently undergoing rehabilitation at a medical facility funded by the state government. He stated that upon completion of her rehabilitation, she would be reintegrated into her family.

The governor emphasized the government's commitment to a fair legal process, promising that anyone found culpable would be held accountable. Additionally, he highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of children in the state, including training social workers to provide psychosocial support and initiatives to protect the rights and dignity of Jigawa citizens.
