Jigawa Court Adjourns Walida Abdulhadi Case to March 2026

The Federal High Court in Jigawa has adjourned the case regarding the alleged abduction and sexual abuse of teenager Walida Abdulhadi to March 26, 2026. The court session, which took place on Wednesday in Dutse, was marked by a request from defense counsel Barrister Abdulmalik Sani for an extension to file a counter affidavit.

Prosecuting counsel Barrister Kabir Adamu informed the court that they were ready to proceed but acknowledged the defense's request for more time to gather information. The judge, Justice Hassan Dikko, granted the adjournment.

The prosecution is seeking the court's intervention to compel the Department of State Security (DSS) to hand over the suspect, Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, to the police for a discreet investigation. Additionally, the prosecution aims to secure the unconditional release of the victim to reunite her with her family, emphasizing that the DSS's involvement may compromise a fair hearing.
